Winter? What Winter?

Winter? What Winter?

Braces!!! Already?

So, I know my child is growing up, but braces!!!Yikes, I wasn't ready for that. I must say that as Abby's permanent teeth were coming in,I did notice they were crowded, but the overbite...didn't see that one coming. Oh, and guess who she gets it from? Who knew that MY teeth taking their time to grow out would also be her problem? Catching this early and helping her teeth find their place will only make things better in the long run! I hope!!
She of course seems to be taking it in stride. They were a little sore this afternoon and we popped a band, but she is a trooper and is ready to tackle this new adventure with excitement. Which if you know Abby, means a lot of talking!!!
I will keep you updated!! Send happy thoughts her way for a speedy and painless transition as a metal mouth!!!

blogging for Forsyth Woman Magazine

While skiing down the mountain with my friend Kelly, she told me they had a open spot on their web page for a blog. "Really." I said. "Interesting." She said I could write about deals I had found, things I liked, things that bothered me or basically anything at all. So I said, "Sure, I will write a blog!" I thought, how hard can it be, once a week and anything I want? Well, hard is not really the word I would use. Nerve-wracking is more like it. The thought of lots of people reading my thoughts, started to make me nervous. I mean, what if people thought what I wrote was stupid? Or dumb. or worse yet...boring???
So Sunday night, after the heart-breaking loss to Canada, and knowing that the closing ceremonies were upon us, I opted to write about the Olympics. As you know, I love sports, and in this family, we love the Olympics as well.

You can go to facebook and become a fan of Forsyth Family and Forsyth Woman magazine. or go to their website and check out my blog as well as others> If you can write a commen. It will make me feel better, or at least give the illusion that someone actually read it.

Thanks to my friend Kelly, who gave me the chance to be a celebrity writer for a little while!!!

Snow again, really?

Okay, so I think my last post was about snow, and I find it really discerning that this post is about the fluffy white stuff. I am all for winter and sledding and snowballs and snow cream, but enough is enough!! I an looking forward to days of short sleeves and warm breezes, pretty flowers and sunny days, bike rides and eating outside. But I guess as long as I am watching the winter Olympics, I shouldn't complain. I know next year when we see not a single flake of snow, I will think back with fondness of the snowy season. For now.....really, more snow?

What's next?

Oh, the wintery weather continues. I can't believe we already know we will not have school tomorrow. The "experts" are predicting a big mess. Lot's of freezing rain, and sleet with a little ice thrown in for good measure!! Oh, JOY! So, Abby has been in school for a total of 5 hours this week. What we will do with our free time, I am not sure. I know it will have something to do with lots of crafts and probably some "kitty" games. Stay tuned for a detailed review of the Storm of the Century - Take 2!!

Ahhh, the Snow!!

Okay, so I am all for snow...snow cream, snow angels, snow men, and of course the occasional snow day. But with the huge amount of snow that we recieved this weekend and the threat of freezing rain tonight and more wintry mix on the way, I must say that there is such a thing as too many snow days!!!

We missed school today and we are all set to miss it tomorrow. I am not sure what the rest of the week holds, but I guess all you can do is make the best of it!
We have been sledding with our friends the Gaillards, and also the Vaughans. We have made crafts, watched movies and the adults even got a chance to sit on the driveway and chat!

I know we be saying some choice words during our shortened spring break and our late days in June, but then I try to look at it from my sweet daughter's point of view!!

" Snow is better than Spring Break!!" and to an eight year old...it is.

Free Time

So, Today was my first day of not having to go to school for work in a long time. I kind of felt lost after I dropped Abby off at her class. Luckily, a few friends were there to greet me. I helped cut out laminate and stuff folders for Tuesday tubs, then I went to a "lunch and learn" on money. I know Todd was excited I was attending this seminar!!! Not sure how much I got out of it and Todd is doing all the things they said were the right things to do anyway!!!
As you can see, I am spending my time trying to update my blog. I finally figured out how to follow my friends on their blogs. Now if only I could figure out how to add pictures at will. Tracey???

I am trying to make writing a priority, and hope to be able to continue writing several times a week. Right now I think it is time to go work on the "crap", I mean craft room and then pick Abby up from school. Wish me luck. I plan on updating my cleaning here, so look for before and after pictures!!
Yes, Tracey, I am in the process of purging and making a bigger space for you to sleep. Hard to imagine isn't it?

Here we go!

So, my sister-in-law told me she couldn't wait to see my new post, but I am feeling the pressure to write something exciting, which I know is not going to happen. Right now, I am yelling at my dog, Casey, to stop barking at some mysterious noise, and Abby is trying to get me into her pet shop that she has opened, for a tour.
So my tour as an art teacher has come to an end. I had a great time teaching the whole school and getting to know kids I haven't met before. It was a bittersweet feeling on Friday when I packed up all my belongings and wheeled them out to the car. I plan on taking the Praxis test to become certified in art. I am NOT looking forward to studying...that is something I haven't had to do in a long time, and I can already feel excuses coming on.....

I am trying to be positive and see the good side of not having a permanent teaching position. I am looking forward to running when it is actually light outside and spending some time with my friends. I want to paint Abby's room and the guest room, and I really need to purge some clothes.
So this is my first official post, very boring, but hopefully my creative juices will start flowing!!
